Answers to Getting to Know You Questions

1. Where are you based?
"Up North" in England, UK - North Lincolnshire, to be precise. A fairly rural location which sits in a triangle between Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Hull. Not a good place to be, I'm sure you'll agree.

2. How long have you been blogging?
I've been playing with websites on and off for a lot of years now, but didn't start "blogging" until last year when I discovered Wordpress. It turned around my method of producing sites (why code?) - and was born.

3. What's the best thing about food blogging?
Well, running a foodblog is certainly different method of producing sites. There's a very distinct community atmosphere within the foodblog scene which is great to be a part of.

4. What's the worst thing about food blogging?
Sometimes it makes me realise what junk I eat. If a week goes by (as it often does) but I haven't found anything interesting to blog about, it basically means I haven't eaten anything interesting. Which is a bad place to be for someone who loves cooking and good food!

5. What inspires you to cook and write?
I'm not sure. Certainly seasonal food does it for me, more then recipes. I'm much more likely to be inspired to write about the latest seasonal ingredient (and convert that into a recipe or two) then I am to just create something from scratch. It's a mixed blessing, but it means inspiration is always just around the corner.

6. Where do you like to blog?
Literally? In my "office" - a small bedroom with a desk, where I do (should do) my university work. In a non literal sense, I use Wordpress with my own hosting, for pure flexibility.

7. What's your signature dish?
Probably a fairly twisted Morrocan Lamb Tagine. I'm sure it's not very authentic, or even very impressive - but it's the dish I cook most often at home, and tastes delicious. I'm a very lazy cook like that, and love "one pot" dishes.

8. What about you might surprise other food bloggers to know?
Hmmn...probably that I lost my last job for blogging when I should have been working. It's a little more complicated then that, but the point remains - bosses don't like you to use the internet at work...

Loved your answers Scott. I wish I had your knowledge when it comes to inserting links and having them look like words instead of like long lines of code etc. I am just not computer savvy that way. (referring to your Lamb Tagine link here) But then, I am an old know the kind, the ones you can't teach new tricks to. :-)

marie: It's not even about coding, really. When you write a new post in blogger (like here) theres some buttons you can click - the one with a little chain thingy is for inserting links.

Yes I agree with Scott about having a play Marie, that's how I figured it out - trial and error really!
